Shun The Hate Game

 Shun The Hate Game

If you have never considered that the joint looters of the common wealth are neither related by ethnic affiliations but by a zeal to jointly pillage and out pillage the rest of us, you need to realize that now.

The elites use ethnicity and religion to divide the ignorant populace who will not accept responsibility for their own poverty. They also manipulate the poor masses at will through religion and ethnicity to accomplish their objective: power for economic gain.

The elites, are they even elites? Cabal is a better word. The cabal may disagree from time to time but ultimately, they are cordial. No matter how quarrelsome news of disagreement between members of the cabal sounds, they eventually shake hands and drink together behind the scenes.

But at the bottom, what do we have? Hate speech to the races and religions. Threats and counter threats. The poor would rather blame anyone but himself for his woes. This makes them pawns on the chessboard. They can be sacrificed at will to gain material and control good spaces.

The Hausa Fulani you hate are also on the streets struggling. The Igbos you ordered to vacate your cities are there on your streets striving to make ends meet. The Yoruba whom you term slaves to the Hausa Fulani are equally in a struggle of survival at the bottom. Try asking yourself if the leadership of Abacha shared any of his loots to the common Fulani man. Perhaps Obasanjo was gracious, he made Ogun state people millionaires while he was in charge. Goodluck Jonathan actually paid me and a few other Igbos in millions of words for being Igbo. Across the Nigerian space, those who pay or settle kinsmen for being kit and kin are few and far in between. Even at elections, what is doled out to garner votes is peanuts compared to what they jointly desire of us.

So what have we in this continuous acrimony of ethnic insults everywhere? The cabal ultimately serves themselves and their interests. If you would listen to their conversations, they would tell you that there are no permanent friends, only permanent interests. At the bottom, you will stand in defence of the cabal just because you are coincidentally related by ethnic affiliations. Sometimes to shameful and needless deaths.

The agitation for Niger-Delta republic is also gaining steam. I knew they were never going to consent to playing minority in the Biafra dream, not then and not tomorrow, they would always not support it. Their former militants are moving in now and are asking the Federal Government to withdraw all licenses to oil block owners. For the avoidance of doubt, the claim that oil blocks are predominantly owned by the north is not correct. The foreigners own a better deal in that regard. Of the Nigerian content, it is shared by a great number of ethnic groups who at one point or the other had shared interests with those in power.

Give yourself brain. Hating other people will only result in further deepening of hate for you and those you care about. Everyone you meet, one way or the other carries a piece of your puzzle. Why act as though, you've fully figured out everything alone.

Ideologies are far greater and superior to championing ethnic causes and the reason is obvious: the issues affecting ndi Igbo in Aba also affects Hausa youths in Aba. The taxes of Lagos affects Yorubas and Igbos resident there. The issues do not pick and choose, it is we that are selective and biased. Bad roads do not become good for the Hausa Fulani herdsmen nor did electricity become constant for Boko Haram.

Because ideologies are superior and result in our better understanding of politics, we must shun the hate game, it will do us no good. Dialogue and persuasion, ballots not bullets are the best deal for any people who wish to make progress. If you choose to promote hate, get ready, your house will burn first.

City Win Edgy EPL Title

A certain Italian Galileo by name made a contraption that swings this way and that way in order to tell the time. That machine was named the pendulum; oscillating hence and thence on a never ending mission. What inspired Galileo though was not gravity or some other story you might have heard, it was his dream of a football match that swung this way and that that inspired him to make such a device. Today, the EPL season of the 2011/2012 proves in the end that the pendulum learnt a thing or two from the beautiful game. The EPL has been touted by its promoters as the greatest show on earth. Sometimes it does not offer much sound football that some really savvy spectators might revel in but make no mistake; it never fails to thrill with excitement. Every season, twenty teams compete for the trophy where every match in the 380 game series is a contest for three points. Some teams do not chase just the three points though, they chase the ultimate prize: the league title. Failure to pic...

AMNESTY: IN WHOSE INTEREST?

The Third Mainland Bridge is Africa’s and Nigeria’s longest bridge. Its economic importance and significance to Lagos and indeed to Nigeria cannot be wished away. It was shocking and worrisome to learn that terrorist organisation Boko Haram have come south to Lagos and made the bridge its target.  The sect has been responsible for numerous deaths and destruction of property worth hundreds of millions in Naira. A lot of persons have been displaced as a result of the wicked acts of this sect. The administration of President Goodluck Jonathan has had a torrid time dealing with the menace of the group and has thus far remained unsuccessful. Boko Haram is an ideological organization with hard line terrorist operations. It wants or at least is said to want a Sharia state all over northern Nigeria. Having links with other terrorist organizations including Al Qaeda is proof of its outsourcing capabilities. In terms of efficient organization and impact, the sect’s attacks have bee...

That Mockery Called Vice Presidential Debate

The first to present his case seems right until another comes and examines him.  Making cases as to why a candidate should be hired to take office for a term is often what happens at a political window. But we can only assume that such cases are right, we do not truly know how effective they are until there is a challenge or when it is too late. It is this challenge of ideas, cases, positions, propositions and even character that make democracy tick. The formal setting to present voters with an opportunity to test these cases, positions and propositions is a debate. On Friday 14th December, 5 vice presidential nominees spoke at the BON/NEDG debates. It was carried live by most local media stations in Nigeria. Make no mistake though, what we saw and listened to were no debates only group interviews. It was a mockery compared to what debates are supposed to be and what obtains elsewhere. Recent comments before the debate showed that many Nigerians, some of whom yours truly con...
